Backpacks for Kids: Serve
In Prince William County, there are many children that are food insecure. Food insecure is “the limited or uncertain availability of nutritionally adequate and safe food.” In Prince William County, over 19,000 elementary school children qualified for free or reduced-price school lunches. Although these children are provided meals during the week, some do not have access to food on the weekends. We want to ensure these children don’t have to worry where their next meal is coming from by providing children with weekend food bags.
Next to each Immanuel serve & volunteer opportunity, you will notice a short section indicating whether or not Ministry Safe training is required for adult volunteers who wish to participate that particular ministry.

Ministry Safe provides complete safety systems designed to reduce the risk of child sexual abuse in ministry programs. Ministry Safe's clients include churches, denominations, camps, mission organizations, Christian schools, youth ministries and mentoring programs.

All Immanuel staff and volunteers who wish to be serving in ministries where there may be interactions between adults and children or youth must complete Ministry Safe training and screening which includes undergoing a background check before they are allowed to serve in those ministries. Please check the serve page for the volunteer opportunity that you are interested in to see if Ministry Safe is required.
