A Note from your Interim Rector
As I was doing my morning devotions today, I caught a glimpse of Immanuel Anglican Church. I read Philippians 2:14-15 -
Do all things without questioning, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world..."
That's you, brothers and sisters! As I live and move among you, I see a resilient congregation patterning itself after Paul's teachings. Sure, we don't always agree with each other on every little, but we love each other enough to work through those disagreements. That is so reassuring. You "shine as lights" in the Woodbridge/Manassas/ D.C. corridor. This is not an easy place to shine as lights in the world, what high living expenses and a rapidly changing political map. It's not an easy place to put up a church building, what with almost strangling building and property codes. But in all of that, Immanuel is a thriving community of several hundred people presenting Jesus in WORD and DEED.
May we grow more and more in our prayer lives so that Jesus will shine through us as lights in our environment. Each day, ask the Holy Spirit to use you mightily for the Kingdom of God. Yes, our Father wants to shower you with such light that you will actually reflect the light of Jesus wherever you are and whatever you do.
I want to assure you that the leaders you elected to make decisions about our future are hard at work, praying and acting in a wholesome way. Our staff is exercising solid ministry on behalf of the congregation, and our ministry leaders are moving smartly along the Gospel road.
We're all in this together. I picked up a phrase many years back that describes the congregation that loves Jesus
Rector: The Rev. John Doe
Ministers: the whole congregation
Let's do this! See you in church.
