“Vestry Nominations”

This past week the Vestry Nominating Committee announced that they are now receiving applications from those who would like to stand for the 2025 election to fill the three vacancies of our outgoing Vestry members. I mentioned on Sunday that Vestry members play a vital role in guiding the life of our church family. The Rev. Canon David Roseberry gives a compelling description of that role:

The church is the oldest continuously renewing and reforming organization that has ever existed. … Your congregation, the family of believers with whom you are growing in the faith and learning about our Lord Jesus and His outward mission, your church is on the leading edge of that movement.

This awareness should change the way your church operates. A church that has its timeless mission in mind can roll over obstacles and setbacks with great momentum. So, if you are…a nominated Vestry candidate, or an elected/appointed member of a Vestry, your role is NOT about running the church, building the programs, or raising the funding. Those things are important, and you must attend to them all. However, they are not the mission. You have been…called, chosen, nominated, or elected to be a faithful steward of this God-blessed, Christ-centered, Holy Spirit-empowered, faith-based, longest-lasting world-changing enterprise.

This is the work you are to do.

If something stirs within you as read this, please fill out the application, and/or talk with a member of the Nominating Committee (Bryan Zwanzig, Catherine Annand, John Morlu, Scott Ankers). I ask everyone to pray throughout December and January that the Holy Spirit would guide us to select the people Jesus has called to fulfill these important roles.

Please also be sure to review the dates and times below of our upcoming Advent and Christmas events, and invite friends and family, neighbors and co-workers to participate!
